Lenses in Pensacola

Kids grow fast—and so can nearsightedness. If you’re looking for Stellest Lenses in Pensacola, Dr. C Vision Care offers a glasses-based option designed to help your child see clearly now while also helping slow myopia progression over time.

Stellest® lenses (by Essilor) are specialty spectacle lenses authorized by the FDA to both correct vision and help slow the progression of myopia in children. They look like normal eyeglasses, but they’re built with a unique optical lens that’s made specifically for growing eyes.

As a family-owned, family-friendly practice (founded by parents of four!), we keep things simple: we listen, we explain what we’re seeing, and we help you choose a plan that fits your child’s day-to-day life.

A smarter way to treat childhood myopia with eyeglasses

Stellest lenses use a technology called Highly Aspherical Lenslet Target (H.A.L.T.). In plain language: the lens design includes tiny, nearly invisible “lenslets” that create a pattern of focus intended to reduce the signal that can drive the eye to keep elongating (a key factor in myopia progression).

Studies have found that Stellest Lenses can slow the progression of myopia by an average of 71% compared to single vision lenses. 1 Studies also show a slowing of myopia progression compared to standard single-vision lenses when worn consistently.  These lenses are meant for regular life: school, sports, reading, and everything in between.

Who are the best candidates for Stellest Lenses?

Stellest spectacle lenses are commonly recommended for children ages 6–12 with myopia, with or without astigmatism. They’re especially helpful for kids who:

  • Are too young for contact lenses
  • Aren’t ready for overnight options like ortho-k
  • Want a comfortable, familiar glasses routine
  • Have shown recent prescription changes or signs of progressing nearsightedness

The best way to know is to start with a pediatric eye exam, where we can evaluate prescription changes, eye health, lifestyle, and risk factors.

Help your child see clearly again

Myopia management isn’t just a product, it’s a plan. During your child’s visit, our team will review vision needs, explain how Stellest compares with other options, and recommend what fits your child (and your family) best. Our eye doctors will also monitor progress over time and adjust the approach as your child grows.

Stellest Lens FAQs

How long does treatment last?

Stellest lenses are used during the years when myopia is most likely to progress. Your child’s prescription can still change, so we’ll continue tracking vision and eye growth and update lenses as needed.

Are the lenses covered by insurance?

Coverage varies on a case-by-case basis. Because these are specialty lenses, some plans may not cover them fully. If you’d like, we can help you understand costs and discuss options that fit your budget.

Will my child need another set of glasses?

In most cases, no. Stellest lenses are intended to be your child’s everyday glasses. If your child plays certain sports or needs a backup pair, we can help you plan for that, too.

What if the lenses don't work for my child?

Some kids notice an adjustment period at first, usually brief. If anything feels off after the first week (or if your child mentions discomfort) schedule a follow-up and we’ll troubleshoot and make sure everything is working as intended.
